Intrigued by their design approach, Crane invited them to visit a project site, leading to an impromptu meeting with the Reichels. This chance encounter resulted in Mosaic Architects & Interiors being hired on the spot to enhance the architecture and interiors of the Reichels’ curved house.

Role and Initial Steps

Mosaic Architects & Interiors joined the project during the framing stage. Their first task was to evaluate the floor plan and spatial layout.

After several site visits, they made significant changes to improve the flow and layout of the rooms, which the Reichels enthusiastically approved. This initial phase set the tone for the subsequent design enhancements.

Design Enhancements and Key Elements

Once the floor plan was optimized, the focus shifted to the ceilings, particularly challenging in a curved house with sloped roofs.

The redesign of the ceilings was followed by a comprehensive overhaul of the lighting to complement the architectural features. The team then reimagined various elements, including:

• The kitchen
• Fireplaces
• Fountains

Exterior Enhancements

A major addition to the project was the approach leading to the house. Mosaic Architects & Interiors designed exterior steps, landings, and a cascading water feature.

Using board-formed concrete, they created ponds with spills, producing varied water sounds that enhance the approach to the front door. This design not only matched the house but also integrated seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
